THE WASHING OF THE DISCIPLES’ FEET
John 13:5-7
Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel around his waist. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Master, are you going to wash my feet?”
Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later.”
Reflection:
Jesus does not give Peter knowledge and understanding before asking him to submit to His will. He requests that Peter submit first and accept that knowledge and understanding will come later.
If we sincerely desire something greater than this life has to offer, then we must be open to the only person not of this world capable of guiding us there. Therefore, let us seek the One in whom we place our faith and not the reasons for why we place our faith.
