CROSSING THE RED SEA
Exodus 14:30-31,15:1
Thus the LORD saved Israel on that day from the power of Egypt. When Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the seashore and saw the great power that the LORD had shown against Egypt, the people feared the LORD. They believed in the LORD and in Moses his servant.
Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD: I will sing to the LORD, for he is gloriously triumphant; horse and chariot he has cast into the sea.
Reflection:
In Exodus, we hear Moses and the people of Israel singing a song after they were delivered from their enemies by God’s saving power. God goes to battle for the Israelites just as He goes to battle daily for each of us. Our fighting is not on the Red Sea but on the battlefield of our hearts.
Let us remember that our self-reliance is not enough. We cannot go to battle and be victorious without our God. Society teaches us that the last man standing is the victor. Our God teaches us that the last man kneeling is the victor.
